Foot Pod
A small sensor attached to the shoe laces that measures stride metrics and pace with high precision.
What is a Foot Pod?
A Foot Pod is a small, lightweight device that clips onto your shoe laces. It uses accelerometers to measure foot movement.
Why Use One?
- Indoor Running: GPS doesn't work on a treadmill. A foot pod provides accurate speed and distance data indoors.
- Instant Pace: GPS pace can lag by 10-20 seconds. A foot pod reacts instantly to speed changes, making it great for intervals.
- Advanced Metrics: Some advanced pods (like Stryd) measure Power (watts), ground contact time, and vertical oscillation.
Calibration
To get the most out of it, you often need to calibrate it on a track or known distance, though many modern ones are auto-calibrating.
