Vertical Oscillation
A metric measuring how much your torso moves up and down with each step (the "bounce").
What is Vertical Oscillation?
Running is about moving forward, not upward. Vertical Oscillation measures wasted energy.
- Goal: Minimize bounce (usually < 10cm).
- Fix: Increasing your cadence often naturally reduces oscillation.
Too much bounce puts extra stress on your legs when you land.
