Ground Contact Time
The amount of time (in milliseconds) your foot spends touching the ground during each step.
Why GCT Matters
Ground Contact Time (GCT) distinguishes runners from walkers.
- Elite Sprinters: < 200ms
- Elite Marathoners: ~200ms
- Recreational Runners: 250-300ms
Less time on the ground means more time flying. Improving power and stiffness in the lower legs helps reduce GCT.
