Power

A metric (measured in watts) that represents the work rate of your running, independent of terrain or wind.

Running Watts?

Cyclists have used power meters for years. Running Power measures how much energy you are outputting.

  • Advantage: Unlike pace, power accounts for hills. Running 300 watts uphill is slower than 300 watts flat, but the effort is the same.
  • Device: Usually requires a foot pod (Stryd) or specific watch features (Garmin/Coros).
