Compression Socks
Tight-fitting socks designed to improve blood circulation and reduce muscle oscillation during running.
What are Compression Socks?
Compression Socks are knee-high socks made of strong, elastic fabric that applies graduated pressure to the lower legs. The pressure is tightest at the ankle and gradually decreases towards the knee.
Benefits
- Blood Flow: The graduated compression helps fight gravity, pushing deoxygenated blood back up to the heart, which can speed up recovery.
- Muscle Stability: They reduce muscle oscillation (jiggling) upon landing, which some believe reduces micro-tears and fatigue.
- Warmth & Protection: Great for winter runs and protection against trail scratches.
Do They Improve Performance?
Scientific studies are mixed on whether they make you run faster. However, there is stronger evidence supporting their role in recovery and reducing perceived muscle soreness after hard efforts.
Usage
Many runners wear them during long runs, marathons, or on the plane/drive home after a race to prevent swelling.
