Glutes
The gluteal muscles (buttocks), serving as the primary engine and stabilizer for running.
Why Glutes Matter
The Glutes (Gluteus Maximus, Medius, and Minimus) are the powerhouse of your running stride.
- Maximus: Extends the hip (propels you forward).
- Medius/Minimus: Stabilizes the pelvis (keeps you from wobbling side-to-side).
"Sleeping Glutes"
Many runners suffer from "glute amnesia" due to sitting all day. If your glutes don't fire, other muscles (hamstrings, quads, calves) have to compensate, leading to injuries like Runner's Knee or ITB syndrome.
Wake Them Up
Exercises like squats, lunges, bridges, and deadlifts are essential for every runner.
