Race Weight
The theoretical ideal weight a runner tries to reach to maximize power-to-weight ratio for a specific race.
What is Race Weight?
Race Weight refers to the concept that lighter is faster. Physics says moving less mass requires less energy.
The Danger Zone
Obsessing over race weight is a slippery slope to eating disorders and injury (RED-S). Being too light results in loss of muscle power and bone density. Strong > Skinny. Most amateurs run better when they are well-fueled and strong, rather than starved and light.
