Balloon Lady
A volunteer at the back of a large race who signals the cut-off pace.
Who is the Balloon Lady?
The Balloon Lady is a famous figure at races like the Walt Disney World Marathon. She walks at the exact pace required to finish before the Cut-off Time.
The Warning
If the Balloon Lady passes you, you are "behind the pace." In many races, this means you are at risk of being picked up by the Sweeper vehicle and removed from the course. She is often seen carrying colorful balloons to be easily spotted.
