Neutral Shoe
The most common type of running shoe, designed for runners with normal pronation or supination.
What is a Neutral Shoe?
A Neutral Shoe represents the majority of running shoes on the market. It is designed for runners whose feet follow a "neutral" gait cycle (rolling inward slightly to absorb shock) or those who supinate (roll outward).
Characteristics
- Focus on Cushioning: Without the need for stiff corrective posts, all the weight and engineering go into maximizing shock absorption.
- Uniform Midsole: The foam density is usually consistent across the sole.
- Flexibility: Often more flexible than stability or motion control shoes.
Who Needs Them?
- Runners with high arches.
- Runners with biomechanically efficient gaits.
- Supinators (under-pronators).
If you check the wear pattern on your old shoes and it's mostly in the center or slightly on the outside edge, a neutral shoe is likely your best bet.
