Motion Control
Heavy-duty supportive shoes designed for severe overpronation and flat feet.
What is Motion Control?
Motion Control shoes are the tanks of the running shoe world. They are designed for runners with severe overpronation or extremely flat feet. They offer maximum stability to prevent the foot from rolling inward excessively.
Key Features
- Stiff Heel Counter: A very rigid cup around the heel to lock the foot in place.
- Wide, Straight Last: The bottom of the shoe is wide and relatively straight (not curved like a banana) to maximize ground contact surface.
- Dense Medial Support: A large, hard block of foam or plastic on the inner side to physically block the arch from collapsing.
Who Needs Them?
Only a small percentage of runners need true motion control shoes. They are typically recommended for:
- Runners with severe flat feet.
- Heavier runners who need extra structural support.
- Runners recovering from specific injuries requiring immobilization.
They are generally heavier and stiffer than stability or neutral shoes.
