Strava Art
The act of drawing pictures or writing words on a map using your GPS running route.
What is Strava Art?
Strava Art (or GPS Art) transforms the world into a canvas. By carefully planning a route, runners creating shapes, animals, text, or even marriage proposals that appear when their GPS track is uploaded to a map.
How to Do It
- Plan: Use a route builder (Strava, Garmin, Google Maps) to trace your design.
- Run: Follow the route precisely.
- Pause: Pause your watch if you need to cross a section without "drawing" (though true purists run the continuous line).
Famous Examples
- The "Frida Kahlo" cyclist.
- Runners drawing intricate holiday greetings.
- The occasional (and inevitable) giant phallic symbol.
