Hobby Jogger
Originally a derogatory term used by elitists to describe recreational runners, now often reclaimed as a badge of honor.
The Origins
Hobby Jogger was used on forums (like LetsRun) to mock anyone who wasn't fast enough to be a pro or sub-elite. "Oh, you're just a hobby jogger."
Reclaiming the Name
Today, most of us are hobby joggers. We have jobs, families, and pay for our own shoes. We run for the love of it (the hobby), and we wear the title proudly.
