Course Cutting
Cheating by intentionally taking a shortcut to shorten the race distance.
The Ultimate Sin
Course Cutting is the cardinal sin of running. Whether it's hopping a barrier, cutting a switchback, or taking the subway (yes, it happened), it undermines the integrity of the sport.
Detection
Modern races use timing mats at multiple points (splits) to catch cutters. If you missed the 10K and 20K mats but finished with a World Record time, you're busted.
